Another crazy man's album. This one is the last record made by the legendary Don Van Vliet, or, Captain Beefheart. If you're not familiar with him yet, well... I guess you're going to be a bit shocked with Ice Cream For Crow.
Although not as shocking as his famous record Trout Mask Republica(1968), this one shows a older and maturer Beefheart. Allegedly a schizophrenic and visibly not completely sane, he sounds like a dying pirate cursing his fellow shipmates here.
After this record, Beefheart left the music businness and went to live isolated somewhere in the californian desert. Some don't even know if he's still alive. Well, God bless that poor soul.

you make him sound like a whack job. the fact is that the good Capt. was a musical visionary, poetically witty and weird and a gifted visual artist as well. whatever measure of sanity you are referring to is irrelevant to artistic genius.
ResponderExcluirCapt. Beefheart was genius who probably looked at all the normal people, shook his head & thought "poor souls."
